02Speak to your doctor first

Get medical clearance before starting any training or nutrition programme, and particularly if you are over 40 and new to exercise, pregnant or postnatal, recovering from injury or surgery, being treated for any condition, taking prescribed medication, or have a history of heart, joint or metabolic problems.

If your doctor advises against something in your plan, follow your doctor. Tell me and I will work around it.

03Stop if something is wrong

Stop training immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, severe shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, or sharp or persistent pain that is not ordinary muscular fatigue.

04No claims about conditions
